Travel Quotes

Happy Saturday! Today it’s pouring with rain and I am working on my itinerary for my summer travel plans! (Very exciting!) Sometimes we need a little inspiration or motivation to take the next trip, so I’ve compiled some of my favourite trip quotes to hopefully inspire you this weekend.

Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world – Gustave Flaubert.

One’s destination is never a new place, but a new way of seeing things – Henry Miller.

It would be good to live in a perpetual state of leave-taking, never to go nor to stay, but to remain suspended in that golden emotion of love and longing; to be loved with satiety. How beautiful one is and how desirable; for in a few moments one will have ceased to exist – John Steinbeck.

Travel far enough you meet yourself.

David Mitchell.

A good traveller has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving – Lao Tzu.

If adventures will not befall a young lady in her own village, she must seek them abroad – Jane Austen.

I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list – Susan Sontag.

My favourite thing to do is to go where I have never gone – Diane Arbus.

Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living – Miriam Beard.

When you’re travelling, you are what you are right there and then. People don’t have your past to hold against you. No yesterdays on the road – William Least Heat Moon.

In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks – John Muir

Live, travel, adventure, bless and don’t be sorry – Jack Kerouac.

Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves – Henry David Thoreau.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover – Mark Twain.

The traveler sees what he sees, the tourist sees what he has come to see – G.K. Chesterton.

Tourists don’t know where they’ve been. Travellers don’t know where they’re going – Paul Theroux.

The road is life – Jack Kerouac.

Let me know if you have any other great quotes I’ve missed!
